@Alun Lambert: I had actually tried the image in black and white, but there is a certain quality to the stone that vanished without the color. With the color I think the balance between the velvety greens of the plants and the blues of the stone make for an interesting (to me) interplay. In black and white I thought this interplay was somewhat diminished. I do confess though that while shooting the photo I though "Black and white."
