Shell No. 1

This is the shell of a marine snail native to New England waters. Some folks call them "perriwinkles" or "shark eyes". I liked the broken edges and imperfections of the shell.

Beautiful detail Henry, I love the lighting and perspective of the snail, I particularly like the darkness in the left side of the subject, sort of a mysterious hole perfectly blended with the background. Well done !!

Very cool. I like the contrast between the rough edges and texture of the outer shell and the smooth sheen of the interior.

A beautiful image. Our family has found many shells that look like these on the beach in South Carolina, but I never knew what they were. One time when our daughter was young we were on our way home and a crab crawled out of one of her shells. You never heard such screaming:-) Sorry for going on so. I tend to be wordy. Love this against the blackness.

This picture fits really well with your series of shells: it shows both the inner smoothness of these shells and the fragility of the whole thing. The "sfumatto" to the left of the picture -both around and inside the shell- gives an added sense of mystery. I like it very much.
