Ferns-Sao Miguel, AzoresPosted by Henry (Fall River, United States) on 7 April 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. I was staying in the tiny town of Lomba de Sao Pedro on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores. The home we were staying in was adjacent to potato fields that were surrounded by lave stone walls. On afternoon I was waiting for my ride to another part of the island and I noticed this small outcropping of ferns growing out of one of the walls. So I took several photos. I used a Nikon F2 with a 50mm lens with ASA400 black and white film for the shot. In fact I used the same combo for all my photos in Sao Miguel. It was pretty restrictive and the lens didn't allow for a deep depth of field. This resulted in some selective focus choices that I believe gave many of the photos a "vintage" look.
